You will be responsible for practical and advisory conservation support to the Engineering Furniture conservation section. Your priorities during the time leading up to the re-opening of the Royal Museum building will be on the Menu Wall Gallery and to be part of a team re-installing the five metre high Millennium Clock and associated technology objects.
You must have an appropriate degree and a further qualification in conservation or extensive relevant experience. It is vital that you have a strong theoretical understanding of material issues and treatments, and that you are an able, practical conservator having gained practical experience in a museums or similar environment. We would expect you to have experience or expertise particularly in metals conservation, with some experience of gallery / exhibition installation or decant of artefacts. Strong documentation and reporting skills are important, as is the ability to manage your workload to meet the deadlines for the display of objects.
